THR-R is hospital lingo for: Total Hip Replacement - Right Side. The hollow form dangling from the round piece of bone is a small replica of the prosthesis used in the replacement. The pearls represent the calcium growth required for healing as new bone grows over the textured stem of the prosthesis to secure its placement.
